I love AirScent hotel oils, they last a decent amount of time as I find them strong so I use less. This might be my new fav scent!! I get strong vanilla and smoky wood, a little floral and leather. Kinda like sipping a vanilla tea around a fire with flowers blooming nearby (or vanilla jasmine tea!) and someone smoking a rich cigar that's drifting over (if you like cigar smells, some are definitely this calming smell to me!).
Wow! I'm in love! Full disclosure: I haven't been to Gramercy Park nor smelled Cade 26, but as a fraghead, I know a good scent when I smell one. And this is a very good one. When I first fired up the diffuser, I picked up a very nice scent that was nothing like the description. I couldn't get enough of it, so I moved right next to the diffuser, and THAT was when I picked up the rest of the described notes. There's a subtle but distinct cedar, and not just any cedar, but a smoky cedar - cade, in other words. I'm impressed by how they added just enough smokiness to evoke charred cedar, but not to overpower the overall scent.
Incredible scent! I have a few other scents from this brand and this one is my favorite. The scent is incredible, and I only need a couple of drops in my diffuser to fill my downstairs. The scent feels very expensive and clean. Totally worth it and I will be purchasing a larger bottle and trying more scents from this brand.
A close cousin to the notorious Santal 26, but with a unique twist that makes it smokier, deeper, and more baroque, this blend is characterized by its smoky wood and leather notes, which are inspired by the hotel's lobby enticing fireplace.
The Gramercy Park Hotel is a luxury respite in the heart of one of New York’s most desirable neighborhoods, which was established in 1831 by Samuel Ruggles, who bought the deed to a swamp and donated it to the city.
Designed by Robert T. Lyons, the hotel opened in 1925 and boasts a dazzling history of visiting celebrities and rock stars, including Mickey Mantle; David Bowie, Babe Ruth, John F Kennedy as a child, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.
The 18-story edifice was built on the site of the former homes of noted architect, Stanford White, novelist, Edith Wharton, Theodore Roosevelt and lawyer/journalist David Templeton Strong.
The Gramercy Park Hotel is ingrained in American pop culture as well as New York history. In the middle of a private, lush and green space, the key to the park is available only to residents living in surrounding buildings.
It has been the setting for numerous films over the years including two by Martin Scorcese; namely, the 1973 production of Mean Streets and Room 1501, which served as the site for a scene from Raging Bull.
The park’s glorious fountains and formidable sculptures embrace a verdant vista in the middle of a busy, urban setting.
Originally created as a candle scent known as Santal 26, which was developed by Fabrice Peniot from the renowned fragrance house, Le Labo, in 2010 it became a tangible fragrance formulated by perfumer, Frank Voelkl.
Its purpose was to capture and reflect the plush ambiance of the Gramercy Park Hotel.
Its popularity as a signature scent and as the fragrance dupe developed by Air Scent Diffusers soared because of its unique and complex character that evokes feelings of a warm shelter from the storm and a cozy fireplace crackling with the mingled aromas of smoky, woody and leather elements.
Luxurious and universally appealing, its subliminal effect is to make visitors feel comfortable, pampered and at ease from the stress and strains of everyday life.
Hotel Scent Cade 26 is close in fragrance to Santal 26, but is considered smokier, deeper, and more extravagant when compared to the softer, more genteel aspects of the latter.
The main difference is that Cade 26 has a woodsy, more potent and smoky character due to its inclusion of cade oil. The Santal version is defined by softer elements such as smooth, buttery sandalwood.
The sensational notoriety of Hotel Cade 26 among elitist fashion and design coteries increased its value among those who sought (and still do) to recreate the "Gramercy Park experience" at home.
How Does Cade 26 Reflect the Gramercy Hotel Brand and Reputation?
This signature fragrance is an immersive, memorable experience into a kaleidoscope of luxury and elitism.
Its allure is a journey into a bewitching forest of exquisite, forbidden sights and smells.
Opulence is everywhere the eye can see. It seeps from the dazzling chandeliers of finest crystal, sturdy wooden beams, 10-foot fireplace of handmade French limestone, sumptuous furniture and collection of precious contemporary art.
The fragrance evokes-an old world charm meshed with modern insight and appreciation.
A Bit On Cade Oil
This intriguing, smoky element which defines the true character of Cade 26, refers to a type of oil with a smoky, earthy aroma, which, when combined with leather notes, transforms into a warm, rich fragrance.
Also known as Juniper Tar and Prickly Juniper, it is native to Mediterranean regions and is beloved for its smoky, tar-nuanced aroma that adds depth and character to leather and woody formulations. This element perfectly aligns with the Gramercy Park Hotel’s worldly aesthetic.
Air Scent Diffusers Hotel Scent No. 1035 is a fabulous perfume dupe that mirrors the scent of Cade 26. It features floral woody and leather aspects that in tandem create a splendid fragrance.

What Customer Are Saying
One reviewer gave our Gramercy blend five stars because of the beauty of cade oil, which is a subtle yet distinctly smoky cedar like no other. While she admits to never having visited the Gramercy Park hotel, she loves the fragrance for the simple reason that it is such a good one.
Another consumer noted that this fragrance dupe enhances but never overpowers the home setting and that the combination of jasmine/amber and wood is both beautiful and unique.
One woman stated that somehow this fragrance is woodsy, clean, and unexpectedly elegant. Another loved the scent, but focused on the bottle, the cap of which came off easily, allowing the drops to drip slowly out of its mouth.

Some Notable Historical Aspects:
The historical use of vanilla in perfumery can be traced back to the 16th century when the Conquistadores discovered it and brought it back to Europe as one of their many treasures. For hundreds of years, leather has been linked to the curing process of leather as well as the evolution of the perfume industry. There is also evidence that leather was used in the ancient worlds of Egyptian and early Eastern civilizations.
Psychological And Emotional Aspects :
Vanilla is said to contain elements that combat fear and anxiety. Leather is an emotionally significant facet because it evokes feelings of nostalgia concerning human experiences with leather goods or experiences (new car, jacket etc).
